Actor Ralph Macchio joined "Salon Talks" to discuss what persuaded him to return to the iconic role of the karate kid, Daniel LaRusso, in the YouTube spin-off series "Cobra Kai," now in its second season.
"I'm so protective of that character and the legacy of that film. It's the fan's movie," Macchio told Salon. "To go back to the well and fall short, it was easier to let it stand on its own. Our creators knew how to write for a new generation… and they also are the biggest fanboys of the movie. They have such respect for the characters and embrace that legacy in a positive way."
