One of the hardest questions chef Brandon Jew says he's been asked about his Chinese cuisine is if it is authentic. In his new cookbook, "Mister Jiu's in Chinatown," Jew writes about finding his voice as a Chinese-American chef through the food he serves at his restaurant Mister Jiu's in the heart of San Francisco's Chinatown.
"It really kind of put me in front of a mirror, and had me realize, well, what is my authenticity?" Jew said on "Salon Talks." "I think that really played out in my life, and understanding where I fit in between. Was I Chinese enough? Or was I American enough?"
