"Saturday Night Live" alum Nasim Pedrad has poured years of creativity into creating and now starring as a teenage boy in the new TBS comedy series "Chad," which airs starting April 6. Pedrad, who is also an executive producer and showrunner on the series, plays Chad, a 14-year-old Persian boy who is striving to be popular, all while struggling with his cultural identity.
Pedrad opened up about why playing a boy allowed her to push the comedy of the series deeper. "Because I'm not an actual teenager, every aspect of the performance is quite deliberate and intentional rather than us just capturing the actual awkwardness of a teen actor," she said on "Salon Talks." It's easier to look at sometimes."
