Film critic Elvis Mitchell joins "Salon Talks" to discuss his Netflix documentary "Is That Black Enough For You?!?" In the film, Mitchell takes on the history of Black cinema starting in the '70s and the limitations of the label blaxploitation. He tells Salon's Melanie McFarland about the process of getting this documentary, which he originally pitched as a book, greenlit and his love for contemporary shows like "Atlanta" and "Insecure." He also discusses the legacy of "Black Panther" and the ways in which media gets Black film wrong "So much of Black culture in terms of ways it's covered in this country is binary. Either it's there or it's not. There's no complication in the story and that's the sad truth," Mitchell said.
