Music is a huge part of filmmaking for writer and director Zach Braff. Braff tells Salon how his approach to song selection in his movies has evolved since his directorial debut in 2004's "Garden State," starring him and Natalie Portman. "It isn't until the hairs are standing on your arms that you go, 'Okay, well, that's definitely a candidate,'" Braff said. In Braff's latest film "A Good Person," star Florence Pugh debuts her own original music. "She sings and writes music and often does it as a means of therapy for herself," Braff said. "I folded that into the film."
