Actress Kyra Sedgwick was "terrified" to start directing at 50. Sedgwick tells Salon that after years of having other directors "screw up" her performances, she decided to take the chance with encouragement from her husband Kevin Bacon. She recounts the moment she realized that she could direct and shares why middle age was the right time to take on the challenge. "It requires more of me, and that's awesome because I'm 50 and there's more of me to be had," she said.
