Is a "chicken and white rice" candidate exactly who the Democrats need to win the 2020 presidential election? Comedian Jordan Klepper thinks that might be a good option to counter President Trump. He offered his hilarious take on the 2020 Democratic candidates on "Salon Talks," while discussing his new docu-series on Comedy Central, "Klepper."
"I haven't picked my horse in that race, but I think there's some really interesting people. Pete Buttigieg I think is refreshingly smart and bland," he said to SalonTV's Alli Joseph. "Sometimes you want chicken and white rice just because our tummy's been a little bit upset over the last week."
Klepper is hopeful for other candidates as well. "I think Booker's inspiring. I think Warren is actually as planned. She's six months ahead of everybody else. I think the debate needs to happen right now about what this country needs. It's too early for people to jump on board."
Over the past few months, Klepper has been embedding with activists across America for his docu-series, premiering May 9 at 10:30 p.m. For the show, Klepper dives head first into issues like veteran deportation, anti-oil pipeline activism, Native American identity, and veterans coping with PTSD.
